Date/Place: Monday, July 4th 2011 at 8:30 am SHARP! Downtown Mt. Shasta, California - corner of North Mt. Shasta Blvd. and Castle Street. Start/Finish in dowtown Mount Shasta and the corner of Castle Street and N. Mt. Shasta Blvd.

 

Pre-Registration Deadline & Discount: Registration is $18 per person, $15 per person, family of 4 or more and postmarked by Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Your $18 gives you a chance to win the grand raffle prize. Deliver to the Mt. Shasta Visitor's Bureau, 300 Pine Street in Mt. Shasta, daily from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm and receive a pre-registration discount. If you will not be attending the event and want your t-shirt mailed after the event, please enclose $5 for shipping and handling. Click here to Register.

 

Late Registration - Late Registration at the Armory is Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3 from 10 am to 4 pm and Monday morning 6:30 am to 8:30 am at the downtown Registration area.

 

Online Registration - Ends Wednesday, June 29th at 5:00 pm.

 

Entry Fee Includes: Original 2011 T-shirt to all entrants and medallion to all finishers in Youth 2-mile race and 5-mile run, finish area food and drink, free Expo at Armory during t-shirt pickup, Dannon water at the start, fluids, food and sanitary facilities at the race site and along the course, live music, City and CHP security, over 500 volunteers working for you and, most important, the privilege of walking or running in the majestic beauty of Mt. Shasta on America's birthday.

 

Check-In: Pick up pre-registration T-shirt package at the National Guard Armory at 618 Everitt Memorial Highway on Saturday, July 2 and Friday, July 3 from 10 am to 4 pm or July 3rd from 10 am to 4 pm. OR on Race Day, July 4th Before 8 am at the event site, lot between Halford's and Burger Express on N. Mt. Shasta Blvd. Packets/T-shirts not picked up will be forfeited.

Other Prize Drawings: All registered participants will be eligible for a variety of wonderful prizes donated by local merchants, worth over $5,000.  Prizes include: an IPOD from John's Satellite, a gift certificate from Village Books, a TV from Ron's Furniture, a snowboard from the Sportsmen's Den, a framed, color photograph of Mt. Shasta by Kevin Lahey Photography, and 2 Season Ski Passes at Mt. Shasta Ski Park. Also available will be artwork, photographs, and a pendant of the mountain. The drawing takes place immediately after the event, between 10-11 am, while the racing awards are announced. You must be present to win!

 

Refreshments: Mt. Shasta Trail Association continues its tradition of hosting a fresh fruit buffet at the finish line. You are invited to sample the fresh fruit from our own local General Produce Company. 25 local restaurants offering tastes of their favorite dishes. Crystal Geyser will provide the Alpine Spring Water.

 

Entertainment: Over four dozen talented performers along the walk route - a virtual parade in reverse. Church choirs, belly dancers, gymnasts on the ground and surprises in the sky, classical instruments and country bands, family singers, and traveling balloon artists are just some of the bizarre and sublime acts awaiting your stroll by.

Mount Shasta Recycles - Again for this years' Fourth of July Celebrations - learn what to do with your recycling this year. Make sure to put your empty water bottles; empty glass bottles and empty aluminum cans in a clearly marked large blue recycling container. Visit the Recycle Center at the corner of Castle and Chestnut streets. Mount Shasta Recycles is a collaborative partnership between Siskiyou Opportunity Center, Mount Shasta Chamber, Mountain Runners, Mount Shasta City, Mount Shasta Elementary, Sisson School, Mount Shasta High School, CCDA Waters, LLC, Custom Designs and Pepsi Mt. Shasta.

 

Safety Notes: Our insurance carrier does not allow wheeled devices of any kind in either race (except wheelchairs). In-line skates, skate boards, bicycles, headsets, and all animals are not permitted in any event (except seeing eye dogs). Baby joggers and strollers are permitted in the Fun Walk Only.

 

Sore Muscles: A quick massage before or after the event to relieve aches, provided by local massage therapists, and Janet Biondi of Biondi Sports Therapy using Active Release Techniques!
