Mountain Runners 5 Mile Race

"Top 100" races, 1995, 1996, 1997

 

**5 MILE RACE STARTS AT 8:30AM SHARP**

Over 700 athletes race together over a fast and flat 3,600 foot elevation course with snow-capped Mount Shasta in the background. You will see the entertainment and smell the food the first mile and hear the cheers from the thousands of walkers. Champion racing athletes from Northern California and Oregon in all categories will be there. Beautifully carved hardwood trophies are awarded to the winners three deep in each category. The course is open for one hour to complete the five miles, and then the Southern Pacific trains come rumbling through. Medals will be given to all finishers.

 

Male & Female divisions are: 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & over.

We offer Three categories:

 

 Wheelchair Race

Athena for women over 150 lbs

Clydesdale for men over 200 lbs

Mountain Runners are always looking for new volunteers with fresh ideas. Volunteers can spend a few hours, or a few weeks working on projects to prepare for the race or on race day. From registration to setup to breakdown, there are always opportunities for people who want to help.
